Can you envision large resorts where elk and moose graze in pristine meadows today? “Lost Lodges of Rocky” explores the transitions in lodging for visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park. Come and share the thought–provoking search for balance between wilderness and hospitality unique to America’s first automobile based National Park.
Our small group, of no more than 4 guests, will drive through the Kawuneeche Valley and observe the photos and locations of more than 6 resort lodges no longer existing. You will have opportunities to take memorable photos at stops requested by you.
We will walk 1-mile round-trip on the Colorado River Trail to visit the site of the 1906 dude ranch “Hotel DeHardscrabble”. We will continue the adventure as we travel to the breathtaking overlook at the Farview Curve. There will be additional stories and photo opportunities as we return down the valley.
